Driver arrested after two die in Houtkop Road accident

The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a tree on Houtkop road leaving two dead has been arrested.

VEREENIGING. – The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a tree on Houtkop road  leaving two dead  has been arrested.

Vereeniging police spokesperson captain Fikile Funda confirmed that the driver had been arrested and charged with culpable homicide and drunk and driving. According to Funda, the fourth occupant sustained minor injuries.

“We would like to appeal to motorists and people in general to always obey the rules of the road.” Funda said that it was important for people to drink indoors and not get on the road afterwards. “Please ensure that you always abide by the rules stated in the Road Traffic act as this will prevent fatal accidents on our roads.”
