Ster received the following warning although it hasn’t been confirmed by Facebook yet. Be careful when approving new “friend invites” if you already have those people as friends. It might be “clones” (profiles illegally created to look exactly like your friends’ profiles).

Heads-up! Almost every account on Facebook is being cloned. Your picture and your name are used to create a new Facebook account (they don’t need your password to do this). They want your friends to add them to their Facebook account. Your friends will think that it’s you and accept your request. From that point on they can write what they want under your name. Let your friends know that you have NO plans to open a new account, and tell them NOT to accept a 2nd friend request from “you” – as it won’t really be from you.
