Vaal Triangle Academy shows its warm heart for Driehoek after tragedy

Once a 'Hoekie', always a 'Hoekie', says Tshidi Mofokeng

Tshidi Mofokeng, a VTA staff member of Vaal Triangle Academy, writes:
We here at Vaal Triangle Academy have Driehoek Hoërskool in our hearts. The tragic accident when a bridge collapsed on some learners on 1 February touched us very much because two of our staff members, including myself, are former learners of Driehoek.
“EENMAAL ‘N HOEKIE, ALTYD ‘N HOEKIE” (Once a ‘Hoekie’, always a ‘Hoekie’) are the words we use.
The school and staff recently all wore yellow/purple in support of the school after the tragic event. On Friday 8 February we had made yellow hearts with short prayers, words of inspiration, and names of the learners who lost their lives and also those who were injured.
The school learners donated money, which we then used to make up get-well gift packages, including a mug, notebook, journal, magazine’s and more.
