Suspect shot on the buttock

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The Vanderbijlpark police arrested and charged two suspects with house breaking and possession of suspected stolen property on Wednesday.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The Vanderbijlpark police arrested and charged two suspects with house breaking and possession of suspected stolen property on Wednesday.
It is alleged that upon receiving a complaint of a house breaking in progress, the Vanderbijlpark Task Team and the VRU neighbourhood watch responded swiftly to the SW2 area, not far from Vaal Mall. Police chased a grey Q7 Audi which had four suspects inside who tried to escape, one suspect was shot on his buttock and one suspect was arrested. In total two suspects were arrested and another two are still at large.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Gertrude Makhale said that in their possession, the suspects were found with electronic equipment that was from the house where they were fleeing from. One suspect is in his early 20’s and another in his 30’s. The suspects will be appearing in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate Court soon.

Makhale said that what makes this arrest unique is the fact that several house breakings took place this month in Vanderbijlpark.
“The situation was getting worse and became a great concern to the management and members of Vanderbijlpark SAPS. It was also clear that this group operated in a highly organized fashion and the community in our area suffered huge losses. We are investigating the possibility that they might be linked to other house breakings. We value the input of the public and information.”

The Station Commander of Vanderbijlpark SAPS, Brigadier Nikiwe Hoaeane, commended the members for their hard work and dedication.
“The members have been working relentlessly for the past few weeks to ensure the success of the operation. Their hard work paid off and now these suspects will face the full might of the law.”
