Murder suspect sentenced

VANDERBIJLPARK. – Efforts of Investigating Officer Warrant Officer Francois Alberts yielded good results of prosecution where the perpetrator was found guilty on Monday 2019-05-27. Mr. Lebohang Mofokeng was sentenced Life in prison for murder, 5years theft, 4years for possession of unlicensed firearm and 18 months for possession of unlicensed ammunition on the 28th May 2019.

On the 8th May 2018 the suspect went around the area where the victim Jabulile Nhlapo was residing and asked the passer-by if she knows where Me. Jabulile resides, the unsuspecting witness took the suspect where Jabulile resides as she was going to see Jabulile that is when she realised when Jabulile’s reaction when she saw the suspect was not okay she went to inform her neighbour but it was too late as on her way the suspect shot Jabulile cold blooded.

Police were notified and the suspect was at large, working tirelessly on this case W\O Alberts, W\O Tumelo Mokoena, Cst. Maloma and Sasolburg police traced the suspect in Sasolburg within 48 hours of the murder and arrested him.

Palm Ridge court served justice for the Nhlapo family and for the late Jabulile Nhlapo. Hope this sends a message to the perpetrators as these kind of murders have become fashionable.

The Station Commander of Vanderbijlpark SAPS Brigadier Nikiwe Hoaeane applauded good work that was done by warrant Officer Francois Alberts for his dedication in this case, including the members who assisted him to effect the arrest. This has shown that the case can take a year or more years to be investigated a conviction this good can only motivate the member and build the trust to the community that justice will be served at the end.
