SEDIBENG.- The ‘Khuluma Ndoda’ Vaal, is a newly launched men’s community movement against gender based violence.
The movement, under the leadership of the celebrated South African actor, Patric Shai was recently launched in Sedibeng with the main aim of addressing gender based violence and other social issues on the rise.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster the movement’s Vaal Chairman, Enoch Tlebere, said the movement offers to help build the community by contributing towards behavioural change at home and individuals at large. Tlebere said ‘Thabo, Kgotso le Kutloano’ (happiness, peace, and togetherness) will be the principles and values that will drive the ‘Khuluma Ndoda’ Vaal going forward.
He said that the movement is not concentrating on men only but also on young people who contribute towards social ills in the community.
“There is no doubt that substance abuse is one of the contributing factors towards social illness. We as ‘Khuluma Ndoda’ members challenge men and young people to come forward and be open about their challenges. We are aware that men have serious challenges, but they don’t want to talk about them because of a number of reasons. ‘Khuluma Ndoda’ is here for all men who have challenges whether being in marriage, work or within the community.
“We also encourage the youth to make a difference and be ambassadors for change in the community,” said Tlebere.
