VANDERBIJLPARK.- NUW Vaal Development League will come to an end when NWU Vaal hosts the awards ceremony at the end of the month. The ceremony is meant to reward teams and individuals for their great performances in the field of play. The development league consists of sixteen teams from the u/11, u/13 and u/15. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, NWU Vaal Football Manager, Thomas Thema said the league was a great success and that he wants to thank all the teams that contributed to its success. The league was the first of its kind with the league rules demanding that each and every team fields a girl child in the teams starting line-up. The initiative was applauded by the SA U/17 Women Team Head Coach, Simphiwe Dludlu. Dludlu and her assistant, Madu Khumalo who conducted coaching clinics for all the girls who play in the league.
As if this was not enough, former soccer greats under the leadership of Conti Kubheka also conduct Coaching Clinics for the NWU Vaal Development teams to introduce Mzansi football culture. Perfect Academy are the league champions in the u/15 while Nale Academy were crowned the champions in the u/13.
