Emfuleni Customer Center locked by protesters

VANDERBIJLPARK. - A collapse of security saw three protesters simply walk into Emfuleni Customer Care, and drive out all personal behind the counters.

This process was repeated in other municipal buildings by other protestors. This was at the President Kruger Street and Emfuleni main building Tuesday morning. Customer Care is one of the most important business hubs in the municipal offices. It is were droves of people come to pay and get their statements.

Many people arrived only to be turned away by the very security who earlier allowed the protesters to enter freely. Security advised the customers to come back the next day only if it will be safe and the scene cleared off. Many of them will not be able to do so as some took time off from work to come to municipality.

One of the protesters who did not want to be named, claimed that they are the unemployed former members of the Umkhoto WeSizwe Military Veteran Association (MKMVA).

Their complaint was that since they were promised job but nothing comes their way.

“We also have families to look after”. “It is about time that we no longer going to stomach the empty promises made by the Emfuleni officials.”

Asked if they had an appointment with the officials, he responded that, every time there’s new stories.

Christmas is around the corner we must put bread of the table of our families, he said, as he move on to join other members elsewhere.

Customers complain that there’s no safety at the municipal building. People could be robbed daylight in the building in the presence of the security.

South Ster is waiting response from the municipal officials.
