Young man brutally murdered by thugs

VANDERBIJLPARK.- A family is reeling in pain after their loved one was brutally killed in Vanderbijlpark on Saturday morning.
Thato Masooane (29) lost his life after he was stabbed several times at a filling station in CE 1, Vanderbijlpark.
It is said that in the early hours of that morning Masooane was coming from the Central Business District (CBD) of Vanderbijlpark, from where he was followed by a group of young men who were travelling in a bakkie.
The group allegedly chased Masooane who ran to a nearby filling station where he closed the door of the manager’s office, in fear of the group.
Another group, on foot, apparently came out of nowhere and demanded that a petrol attendant at the filling station open the door as they did not want to cause any harm to anyone other than the deceased. It is said that the group then forcefully opened the door and brutally stabbed Masooane several times. He died on the scene.
Vanderbijlpark Police Spokesperson Constable Gertrude Makhale said that the footage of the vicious murder has been retrieved from the filling station which is near the deceased’s home and and that investigations are at an advanced stage.
“We have retrieved footage from the scene and we would like the people who were travelling in a bakkie that day, around the time of the murder and other witnesses to come out and help us with our investigations,” said Makhale adding that a case of murder is being investigated.
The deceased’s mother Betty Mosooane who upon hearing the news of his son’s death collapsed, said that justice should prevail.
“My child died viciously, they took my soul when they took my son and I will never forget seeing his lifeless body lying there stabbed ruthlessly.
He was brutally murdered and justice must be done.”
His brother, Itumeleng Masooane said,
“ I loved my brother dearly and his memory will never fade from our minds . This is a great loss to us as a family. I personally promise that I will continue where he left off, being the good man that he was. He shall forever remain in our minds”
The deceased’s funeral service will be held at 27 Newton Street in CE1,Vanderbijlpark from 8 till 10 this Saturday.
