VUT FC stuns Pirates

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The Vaal University of Technology Football Club made history when they reached last 32 of the Nedbank Cup after beating the ABC Motsepe League club, Pele Pele FC, 2-1 at the Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday.

The students followed in the footsteps of the now-defunct Boipatong Real Rangers FC who reached the final 32 of the former BobSave Super Bowl in 2001. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for VUT FC because they might play against a PSL team in the last 32.
The students stunned the Orlando Pirates babies, who came into the match as red hot favourites, but left Isak Steyl with their tails between their legs. VUT FC was the better side on the day and they were rewarded for their hard work with Lutmetse Hlongwane, who was a nightmare for the Pele Pele defenders.
