It is said that the arrests were as a result of a tip-off received by the Hawks from community members. The Hawks then verified the information and alerted their counterparts, the Flying Squad, who effected the arrests.
Police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango, said two suspects were already inside KFC ready to pull their mission while the third suspect was loitering outside, apparently keeping guard, when the arrests were carried out. Sango said the three males are from the East Rand and that they were travelling in a white VW Jetta 3.
Police investigations revealed that the car they were travelling in had two different number plates. The suspects face attempted business robbery charges. They are also being investigated to find out if they are not wanted for other crimes in other areas of the country.
