5 accidents in and around the Vaal in 1 weekend

It was once again a weekend filled with road fatalities in the Vaal Triangle.

Motorbike and cyclist collide leaving two injured.

Two men were injured on Saturday morning when a motorcyclist and a cyclist collided with each other at the Voortrekker off-ramp in Vereeniging. ER24 emergency services personnel were at the scene of the accident around 10:50 p.m. The cyclist, a man in his fifties, and the motorcyclist, a man presumably in his forties, were found at the scene about 50m away from each other. After ER24 examined the men, it was found that the motorcyclist sustained multiple serious injuries, and the cyclist only minor injuries. The motorcyclists were taken to Mediclinic Emfuleni for further treatment.

Car crashes into streetlight leaving two seriously injured.

In another incident in Vanderbijlpark, two women (both presumably in their twenties) were fatally injured when their vehicle collided with a traffic light on the R42 Barrage Road. ER24 emergency crews arrived at the scene of the crash at 3:25 p.m. One of the women was still in the vehicle while the other was sitting outside the vehicle. Both were seriously injured and, after being treated at the scene, were taken to Mediclinic Emfuleni for further treatment.

Single-vehicle rollover leaves six injured in Vereeniging.

During another accident on Saturday, six people (including four children) were injured when the vehicle they were in rolled onto the R59 near the Ring Road in Vereeniging. ER24 medical personnel were at the scene of the accident at around 3pm, where they found the car on its roof. All the occupants were already outside the vehicle. Two women and four girls (2, 6, 8 and 14 years) sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene, after which they were transported to Sebokeng Hospital.

In a fourth accident reported, two vehicles (a red Mercedez and a bakkie) collided at about 14:30 Saturday in Langerand Road, Sonland Park, Vereeniging. There is no certainty that there were any serious injuries, but ER24, SSG and CPF members were on the scene.
