SEDIBENG.- Perfect Academy, the football club owned by the father of star player Relebohile Mofokeng, has climbed to the summit of the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League Stream A log standings.

The side leaped over former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena’s academy at the top of the table following a comfortable 4-1 victory against Star Boys Academy.

This one-sided encounter was held at the George Thabe Stadium in Sharpeville on October 24.

Before the weekend fixture, Aaron Mokoena Academy led the log on goal difference with both teams tied on points.

Aaron Mokoena Academy will look to reclaim first place when they travel to face 016 Magista FC in a crucial fixture on November 7.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Mokoena explained that founding his own football club fulfilled a long-held dream to follow in the footsteps of his mentor, Jomo Sono.

There is talent in the Vaal!

Mokoena was discovered by Sono on the dusty pitches of Boipatong before establishing himself as a household name with a professional career spanning more than a decade abroad.

Mokoena emphasised his commitment to local talent. “There is talent in Vaal, and I want to allow these youngsters to showcase their talent. I have a partnership abroad in Spain, which will benefit Vaal youngsters. I grew up in football, and I am who I am today because of football. Football changed my life for good,” said Mokoena.

Alongside his club duties, Mokoena remains actively involved in South African Football Association development programmes, having earned recognition for his distinguished service to the national team.
