ZAMDELA. – “May justice be done. Women have had enough of the brutal killings and gender-based violence,” so said Lindiwe Tshongwe, the Executive Mayor of Metsimaholo Local Municipality.
She was speaking in Sommersport Section, Sasolburg, at the funeral of Makantoro Mofokeng (37) and her two children Karabo (2) and Khothatso (9) who were apparently killed by her husband following an argument on May 17.
The suspect is still at large.
Tshongwe who was in the company of some of her MMC’s (Members of Mayoral Committee) also called for a harsher sentence for murderers and the perpetrators of domestic violence.
“This cannot be accepted, enough is enough”, said Tshongwe.
The funeral service was presided over by Reverend Ntlatseng, who appealed to all men to love and protect their families. He added that men have to take a lead and teach their children that women are not punching bags.
Investigations into the murder are underway.
