17-year-old girl raped by unknown man

BOIPATONG. – The police in Boipatog are investigating the rape of a 17-year-old girl.

This is after the victim who was travelling by taxi from Sebokeng, got off at Frikkie Meyer Boulevard robots and took a shortcut towards Boipatong.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Koago says, “While walking towards an open veld, the victim was met by an unknown man who offered to accompany her.

While walking, the unknown man told the victim that he is taking a different route but the victim said she would go with him as it was now dark.

“The two continued to walk together, when they got to a place filled with trees, the man took out a gun, pointed it at the victim and demanded that she had over her bag.

He further instructed her to take off her clothes and face the other way, he then raped her from the back.”

Koago says when the man was done, he told the victim not to look at him and fled the scene. The victim looked for help at a nearby house and that is when police were alerted.

“Police are investigating a case of rape. We would like to urge the community to refrain from taking shortcuts as they may end up being victims of crime.”

Anyone with information pertaining the case can call the police on 086101 or the Investigating Officer, Captain Mokgothu on 016 930 23 28.

The victim was taken for medical treatment and counselling.
