Dr Molefe departs

SHARPEVILLE. – One of the most leading clergymen in this region, Dr Apostle Phillip Finkie Molefe (92) died following illness on Tuesday.

His son, Phil Molefe, told the media that he died a natural death. Dr Molefe of the Ebenhezer Christian Center, a church which he started and is based in Sharpeville will be laid to rest on Saturday in Sharpeville with the memorial service scheduled to take place on Thursday.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster about his death, Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Executive Mayor, Gift Moerane who is also a man of cloth said that he is saddened by the passing of Apostle Dr Molefe and that he was the remaining leader of the generation of church leaders who played a leading role during the struggle in the 60’s alongside the likes of then ANC President Reverend Mahabane.

Dr Apostle Molefe’s memorial service will be held at the Ebenhezer Christian Centre in Sharpeville on Thursday starting at 2:00 while his funeral service will be on Saturday at the same venue from 09h00:11h30.
