Seakemela reminisces about the good old days

“We had a great and very fit team because our coach, Simon “Bull” Lehoko, was well known for playing a hard-running team."

SHARPEVILLE.- South African football history will never be written without mentioning the name of the former Vaal Professionals deadly striker, Robinson “Koiyoko” Seakamela.
Seakamela was a nightmare to many defenders and goalkeepers alike during his prime time when Vaal Professional were still campaigning in topflight football.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Seakamela said he won’t forget the day he scored the only goal when Vaal Professional beat Free State Stars 1-0 in the final of Bob-Save Super Bowl at FNB Stadium in 1994.
Seakamela started his amateur football career playing for Klip Vultures FC from the Sebokeng Hostel. This is where his incredible goal scoring ability was spotted.
“We had a great and very fit team because our coach, Simon “Bull” Lehoko, was well known for playing a hard-running team.
“This team was the pride of Vaal but unfortunately we got relegated from top league,” said Seakamela. Sello Moropoli who used to play against Seakamela at amateur level described him as a complete striker.
“It was very difficult to mark him and he used to terrorize both defenders and goalkeepers. Some of us are very fortunate to have witnessed his talent before he turned professional. He will go down as one of the best strikers in this country,” said Moropoli.
Seakamela said that Lehoko remains the best coach he has played under. In 2004 Seakamela was on top form and was selected for Bafana Bafana to play against Mexico.
Some of the generation of players that Seakamela played with at Vaal Pros included Jabu “Scara” Mnguni, Meshack “Guna” Zwane, Neil Jansen, Ernest “Rambo” Marumo, Geelbooi “Goma Goma” Masango, Patrick Chacho and Rabbi Nkoane.
