Evaton SAPS launches GBV Brigades

EVATON.- South African Police Service (SAPS) members, Women and Men as safety promoters, Gauteng traffic officials and Evaton community members recently gathered at Ikhaya Lethemba Centre for victims of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Evaton to launch the GBV Brigades.
Police Spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi, said that the purpose of the launch is for the Brigades to visit families in order to encourage women and children to break the silence against GBV in Evaton and surrounding areas.
Evaton SAPS Station Commander, Brigadier Hester Bischoff encouraged the community to report incidents of GBV.
The launch was also supported by Gauteng MEC of Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, who encouraged the community to work hand in hand with the police.
A door to door campaign was also kick started, and pamphlets about GBV were distributed.
