SEBOKENG.- Former local boxers plan to have a reality television show to celebrate legends in boxing.
This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by Boyce Moeketsi.
Moeketsi, who is the son of the late boxing trainer, Bennet Moeketsi, said the aim of this reality show is to bring back a boxing debate to attract more viewers in order to grow the sport in Sedibeng. Moeketsi said that boxing development in Sedibeng (Vaal) has been left out for some years now. He believes that former boxers have faded away because boxing is run in the office and not in the ring.
“This reality TV show will give fans and former boxers a platform to share their thoughts around boxing. This will also motivate young promising boxers from amateur ranks to tell their stories, especially their challenges when it comes to situations such as balancing school and sport. This will assist many to go to professional ranks, already having marketed their brand. The show will bring much appreciation to those who came before us,” Moeketsi told Sedibeng Ster Sport.
Moeketsi said this will be the first reality show of its kind in local townships and that they want to bring to the show boxing legends such as Thulani Malinga, Vuyani Bungu, Aaron Kabi and David Potsane to mention but few.
