Emfuleni Municipal bank account attatched

The Chinese company took ELM to court last month.

The ELM handling of the BXCSA smart meter contract termination in the Vaal has caused so much headaches and loss and now more trouble looms as the Chinese company on 2 October successfully attached the municipal bank account and secured R45 million. Due to insufficient funds BXCSA has also blocked the account.

The Chinese company took ELM to court last month, which resulted in the Gauteng High Court record ruling and judgement of R600 million in favor of  BXCSA. It has been almost a week since the municpal bank account has been attached and blocked but the staff, councillors and public were kept in the dark by Mr Bila the Administrator and by the Acting Executive Mayor Ms. Ntombela.

According to one of the local councillors, this means that salaries for staff and councillors will not be paid. Eskom and Rand Water will not be paid. SARS and pension funds, medical aid contributions for both staff and councillors will not be paid.

This is a developing story, Sedibeng Ster will publish ELM’s response as soon as we receive it.
