ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived on the scene at 07h10 to find another service already in attendance.

On closer inspection, medics found the body of a man, believed to be in his 30s, lying in the emergency lane. The vehicle that had struck the man was parked a short distance away.
Medics assessed the man and found that he had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead by another service.
The driver of the vehicle escaped injury but was visibly shaken. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
