Frontline workers given a token of appreciation

Mashiloane says that this is a vision he had - to appreciate those who put themselves at risk for the lives of others.

SASOLBURG. – Reverend Thabiso Mashiloane along with members of the Full Gospel Church of God recently pampered all the workers of the Fezi Ngubentombi District Hospital by giving them goody bags.

The goody bags were filled with snacks, hand lotion, diaries and pens. Mashiloane says the gesture is a token of appreciation to all the front-line workers who have throughout the COVID-19 pandemic put their lives in jeopardy in order to selflessly serve the community.

“There are few positive things said by members of the community about people working in our health facilities. I think they are doing a stellar job because they were at risk, but they chose to be there, working on a daily basis and saving lives.”

Mashiloane said that the bags were not only handed over to nurses and paramedics, but to the entire hospital staff, including the cleaners and security guards who also played a vital role during lock-down. “The hospital is very clean; you can notice this when walking down the corridors. It is well taken care of.”

Mashiloane says that this is a vision he had – to appreciate those who put themselves at risk for the lives of others. “We will continue to do more, I would also like to show appreciation for our Traffic Officers and Police who also made sure that law and order is maintained throughout the lock-down.

“From the way the hospital staff reacted, one can tell that it is not every day that they get appreciation for their hard work.”
