12 days with no electricity, Three Rivers residents plan protest action

THREE RIVERS.- Residents of Three Rivers have planned a protest action that will take place at 17:00 on Friday afternoon and plan to block entrances to the neighbourhood.

Residents are frustrated and discouraged because after 12 days, certain parts of the neighborhood are still without electricity after a substation and cables exploded.

While the Emfuleni Local Municipality is still struggling to restore power to portions of Three Rivers, residents’ food has long been spoiled.

“We would like to show the Emfuleni Local Municipality that we are now really sick and tired of it,” a resident told Sedibeng Ster.

A group of Peacehaven residents have indicated that they want to support their neighbors from Three Rivers.

A large group of people will reportedly gather at Dick Fourie Stadium.

It is alleged that the plan is to block entrance routes with tires.
