ER24 reports that a man in his 40s  was killed on Saturday afternoon when two motor vehicles collided on the N1 Rietspruit in the Vaal.  Two other people sustained injuries during the accident.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 15h55 to find two light motor vehicles in the road. A man was found lying trapped inside the one vehicle while an elderly man and woman were found walking around on the scene.

Medics assessed the patients and found that the entrapped patient had already succumbed to his injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.

The elderly couple was assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. Medics treated the man and woman and thereafter transported to Mediclinic Emfuleni Hospital for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further care.
