Soweto car thieves arrested in Vanderbijl

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Two suspects were recently arrested for possession of car breaking implements in Vanderbijlpark.

Both suspects, aged 30 and 38, were arrested while a third suspect managed to flee the crime scene. This after the police received a tip-off about a blue Renault Clio around the area. Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Gertrude Makhale said that the vehicle was spotted on DF Malan Street, Vanderbijlpark around 10:00.
“Immediately when they realised that police were on their heels, they tried to flee. A chase ensued that ended up with the two being arrested. The third suspect managed to flee on foot. Police are on the look out for the runaway suspect as an investigation is in process.”
Makhale said that the suspects are from Soweto and that the Renault Clio was not stolen but had two registration numbers. “The original registration was covered with the fake one.
The top one was tested and came back with no record as it was not registered to anyone while the hidden registration apparently belongs to a friend of one of the suspects.”
The suspects are charged with possession of suspected vehicle breaking implements.
