‘Hi-jackers’ ram vehicle off bridge

“Last week I was chased by two vehicles. At first I thought they are racing. Then the first car rammed me from the back and the second one wanted to block me from the front.”

VANDERBIJLPARK.- A man from Sasolburg wants to warn motorist following a harrowing experience where suspected hijackers allegedly chased him on the R57 between Sasolburg and Vanderbijlpark and rammed his vehicle, causing him to plunge down from a bridge into the Vaal River. Frankie Mohete says that his car was fortunately hooked by a tree on the way down, preventing it from sinking. He was able to escape the vehicle, swim to shore and later received treatment at the Fezi Ngubentombi Provincial Hopsital in Sasolburg. He wasted no time in getting the message out and took to Facebook to warn members of the public following his horrific experience.

Frankie Mohete wants to warn other motorists following his near-death experience.

According to Frankie the chase ensued at the traffic lights near the Vaal Mall. “They made a U-turn coming from the side that goes to the Barrage. At first I thought they are racing but then the first car bumped me at the back and the second one wanted to block me from the front.” He describes the vehicles as an SUV and an old white BMW (possibly a 335 or 330). According to him the SUV had its lights on and rammed him from behind while the BMW tried to block him off. According to Frankie the BMW was driven by two white guys. “I didn’t get a chance to look at their faces clearly,” he says. He couldn’t get the registration numbers. Following the ramming incident Frankie proceeded to drive cautiously to escape the scene. “I tried to drive cautiously to escape the scene. They kept on coming. They saw I was giving them a rough time. When we were about to cross the Vaal Rivier  they both bumped me – one at the back and one from the side. “I fell in the Vaal at a high speed. Luckily I swam out to the shore. The car was luckily hooked by a tree, so it couldn’t sink.” According to Frankie the airbags deployed and thankfully he was wearing a seatbelt at the time. “I am sure God intervened, for no one could have survived something like that,” he concluded.
