Buthelezi to dedicate fight to his late mother

“I’m really excited to be back in the ring since last year before lockdown and I have been working hard to be in great shape."

BOIPATONG.- Gideon Buthelezi will be back in the ring for the first time since the nationwide lockdown last year in March.

This Boipatong born star will exchange punches against Sabelo Ngebeyani defending his world title under the junior bantam weight division in the Eastern Cape in June.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Buthelezi said he is looking forward to this fight and to defend his title for the sixth times.

No doubt, Buthelezi is making a name for himself as one of the best boxers this region has ever produced.

In the past the Vaal Region was well know for producing great boxers such as Shamba Mthimkhulu, Baby Lux Khambule, Carlton Monnakgotla and Aaron Kabi just name but few.

Buthelezi continues to host Sedibeng flag high together with Bongani Mahlangu who is also come from Boipatong.

“I’m really excited to be back in the ring since last year before lockdown and I have been working hard to be in great shape. It is not going to be easy fight taking into consideration the time I spent off the ring.

But I can promise you I will come back home with my title because I want to make history to defend this title for the 6th time.

My coach is pushing me very hard at the gym because it has been a while since I was in the ring. Covid-19 has affected our lives and now we had to adjust and do things differently and even when I’m preparing for the fight, we must take into consideration COVID-19 regulations and health protocols,” he said.

He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that losing his mother was the saddest thing to happen to him last year when the country was fighting for the pandemic.
