Boipatong police warn community against crime

BOIPATONG.- The police in Boipatong continue in the fight against Gender-based Violence(GBV) as well as other crimes that are prevalent in the community.

The station Victim  Empowerment Center(VEC), Corporate Communication  in conjunction with GBV brigades and VEC Indibano recently carried out a door to door campaign addressing GBV ,theft of motor vehicles and house breakings in Tshepiso Phase 5.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela says, “The community was encouraged to report cases of GBV and to also make use of  social workers that are available at the VEC, as well as services available for victims of crime.”
During the campaign, men were also encouraged to come out and speak up if they are suffering from any form of abuse at the hands of their partners.
“300 informative pamphlets about various forms of crime were distributed via social media platforms.”
Maxambela adds that such awareness campaigns will be  continuous in the Boipatong area.
During the campaign, members of the community were also encouraged to adhere to covid 19 regulations and decrease the spread thereof by wearing their masks and washing their hands regularly.

“Communities are urged to continue to report any forms of crime and GBV perpetrated against women,children and vulnerable groups at their nearest police stations or alternatively call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
