SHARPEVILLE. – Information from the community has led to the arrest of a 32-year-old male suspect in Soul City, Sharpeville on Tuesday.

Police carried out an intelligence driven operation and acted swiftly on the information as received from members of the community.

Police spokesperson Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate says, “The Sedibeng District K9 Narcotic Sniffer Dog, Dog Handler Warrant Officer Rost, Sergeant Mnisi, Sergeant Sefatsa and Sergeant Mkwanazi immediately activated the operation.

“On arrival at the identified address a search was conducted.  A total of 167 Ziploc packets of Dagga were found hidden in two cooking pots and seized.

“The suspect was arrested and charged with dealing in Dagga and possession of Dagga. He will appear in Vereeniging Magistrate Court soon.”
