Buthelezi’s Junior Bantam Weight World Title fight moved

With the country placed on Level 4 lockdown, it is not clear if the fight will even still take place.

BOIPATONG.- The much anticipated fight between Boipatong’s finest, Gideon Buthelezi and Sabelo Ngebiyani from Eastern Cape has been postponed to 31 July. This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by Buthelezi who said that the fight has been moved to another date by paid channel SuperSport. Buthelezi is expected to defend his Junior Bantam Weight World Title for the sixth time.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Buthelezi said that the fight has been moved to above mentioned date due to SuperSport’s commitment to other events. However, Buthelezi said he is still hard at gym in preparation for this much anticipated fight. He has been in the Eastern Cape before and on numerous occasions came back home victorious.

He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he wants to defend his title.
With the country placed on Level 4 lockdown, it is not clear if the fight will even still take place. Buthelezi said he will find out from his promoter if this will affect the fight or not, taking into consideration the Level 4 restrictions.

“The fight has been moved to 31 July but I’m not sure if it will be affected by lockdown regulations because we are now on Level 4. I will find out from my promoter but now its business as usual for me as I am hard at work in the gym. Thetrainers have been pushing me hard at the gym for the past two months and my confidence is high. I want to hold on to this title to set a new record. I want to leave a legacy in South African boxing like great boxers who came from this region in the past. When I fight, I’m not fighting for myself only, also for the up-and-coming young boxer whose dream is to become professional boxers. We have great young boxers here in Boipatong that will take over from us when we hang up our gloves.
“As for now, I’m still enjoying this sport each and every moment, and I feel good every time I get in the ring to fight,” said the confident Buthelezi.
