Metal worker injured after being pulled into metal cutting machine

SOUTH AFRICA.- At 13:15 on Friday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to an industrial incident in Westmead, West of Durban.

Reports indicate that an adult male had been pulled into an industrial metal cutting machine and when the medics arrived at the warehouse they found the man trapped by his legs. A complete shut down and lockout procedure was initiated to allow Netcare 911 paramedics to treat the patient while a Netcare 911 rescue technician used hydraulic tools to free the heavily entrapped man.

Once freed from the machinery and stabilised, the patient was transported to hospital under the care of an advanced life support practitioner.
