Rand Water Foundation partners with municipalities to maintain wastewater treatment plants
This partnership with municipalities also contributes towards the growth of Rand Water’s bulk water supply to municipalities.

SEDIBENG.- Rand Water Foundation (RWF) has partnered with the Municipalities of Emfuleni, Midvaal and Rand West to improve water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants.
The RWF manages Rand Water’s Social Investment resources.
The RWF’s operational and maintenance support is designed to provide solutions to the effluent challenges encountered by the municipalities. Through its Internship Programme, the RWF has assigned a number of interns to assess the operations and maintenance of sewage treatment facilities. The interns have made recommendations that guaranteed compliance with the effluent standards.
The entire exercise is aimed at improving the living conditions of communities by supporting municipalities to effectively provide water and sanitation services.
This partnership with municipalities also contributes towards the growth of Rand Water’s bulk water supply to municipalities. The RWF’s efforts to work with municipalities also indicates supports for the Department of Human Settlement, Water & Sanitation in its drive to ensure all South Africans have access to clean water and safe sanitation.
The collaboration with municipalities has created job opportunities for some interns as they were absorbed by the municipalities after they have successfully completed their training.
The partnership, which started in 2017, consists of six months in-service training programme and trade tests in electrical engineering, process instrumentation engineering, mechanical engineering and safety management. The training is offered to Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Hydrology graduates.
Candidates who are interested in being part of the programme are encouraged to visit the Rand Water website on www.randwater.co.za where future opportunities will be advertised.
