Man arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm

Masondo states that members responded to the complaint and began a search at Bophelong.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – Police Spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo reports that police arrested a 36-year-old  suspect after he went to the house of his ex-wife, pointed her with a firearm and ordered her to get into the vehicle.

“The woman managed to run away not realizing that their child is outside. The man then took the child with and discharged his firearm before he drove to Bophelong.”

Masondo states that members responded to the complaint and began a search at Bophelong.

“As they drove around Bophelong, they spotted a white polo which matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle.

“They approached the vehicle and ordered the suspect to stop the vehicle but instead he sped-off.” Police gave chase and arrested the suspect. He was found in possession of a 9mm firearm and three cartridges.

“The suspect will appear before the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate Court.”
