Family needs help from ELM

BOPHELONG. – For the past three years the Khoza family has have been living in a terrible condition facing leaking water and sewer pipes that flows in their yard. The Khoza’s  concern is that they have on several times reported the matter to the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM), starting to the Ward Councillor but nothing has been done. Now they contemplating escalating the matter to the office of the ELM Executive Mayor Gift Moerane. What causes the family approach Moerane is that they stay in the same street with the Ward Councillor, Nana Banda but they say she seems to ignore their plight. Mampati Khoza said, “I am tired of reporting the same problem year in and year out. I am not saying she must personally come to unblock the pipes. The thing is it is her mandate to engage with the relevant department at the municipality.” Khoza has aid since she opened a furrow from her house to the street and her neighbours have been angered by this. Approached for comment, Banda told Sedibeng Ster that the Khoza’s family extended their house ontop of the pipes. “Theres nothing the department of water and satisfaction can do. I personally explained this to the family.”
