Tributes pour in for Jazz guru

"He allegedly managed to fight back before being shot several times on the lower body."

SEBOKENG. – Gift “Bra-Gift” Makume, the legendary Sedibeng Jazz music collector and fanatic, died on Wednesday 1 September at  the age of 72.

It is said that Makume died as a result of serious injuries he sustained during an attempted hijacked ordeal. According to Motsamai Nhlapo one of his best friends,  Makume was driving his white Toyota bakkie in Zone 16, Sebokeng at around 20:30 when he was allegedly approached by armed suspects who forced him off the road. He allegedly managed to fight them back before being shot several times on the lower body. After the ordeal he was transferred to the nearest hospital.

“He succumbed to his injuries later in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), “explained Nhlapo.

Makume will be remembered for his love for Jazz music and prominence during Jazz sessions throughout the country. At the time of of going to print police were busy with the investigations and no arrests have been made.  Funeral details were also not available at the time of going to print.
