Phali shares his experience with young goalkeepers

SEDIBENG.- Former Jomo Cosmos and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Avril “Chawe” Phali currently shares his goalkeeping experience with young goalkeepers at the NWU Vaal.
Phali is the NWU Vaal goalkeepers coach and he trains the NWU Vaal ABC Motsepe League teams’ goalkeepers ahead of the the ABC Motsepe League 2021/2022 soccer season.
The involvement of Phali with this institution of higher learning was confirmed by NWU Vaal Football Manager, Thomas Thema.
Thema said Phali is helping out with goalkeepers as a former professional goalkeeper who has played for big teams such as Jomo Cosmos, Orlando Pirates and Bafana-Bafana.
“Avril’s experience will help these young goalkeepers to grow to become better goalkeepers in future. He is doing a great job training these youngsters and they look up to him as their role model. We are very fortunate to have a person like him in our set up because he is passionate about what he is doing,” said Thema.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Phali said he is happy sharing his experience with the young goalkeepers. I really enjoy working with these talented goalkeepers and I have no doubt they will go far because they are eager to learn. It is important for goalkeepers to get the best training at this level to become the best. They are the future of South African football. I want to take this opportunity to thank NWU Vaal, especially Thomas Thema, for the opportunity to work with these young goalkeepers,” he concluded.
