VANDERBIJLPARK.- NWU Vaal hosted the one-day pre-season games as part of preparations for the ABC Motsepe League 2021-2022 season at the campus in Vanderbijlpark recently. These pre-season games saw the Super League, SAB League and ABC Motsepe League teams coming from as far as Johannesburg to as close as Sasolburg compete against each other throughout the day. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Precious Dhlamini, who is the NWU Vaal Assistant Coach said these pre-season games were in preparation for the new season for all involved teams. She said playing four games and then another three games on the day were more than enough for the teams. “It was a great day for football because as coaches we had to see which level of fitness our players are at playing seven games in a day. I think other coaches will agree with me that this was the best pre-season for them to assess their players, especially looking at the level of fitness. Playing against lower division teams was a great experience not only for them but also for us because they gave us something to think about. As NWU Vaal, we want to thank all the teams for honouring our invitation and making this pre-season a success,” said Dhlamini. * Meanwhile the SAFA Regional and LFA’s leagues are expected to start between the end of September and October for the 2021/2022 soccer season.
