One dead, five injured in a head-on collision

A fifth adult had escaped with only moderate injuries.

Gauteng.- One woman was killed and five others injured , including a child, following a head-on collision on the N12 outside Fochville on Saturday afternoon.

ER24 and other services arrived at 13:45 to find the two wrecked cars in the middle of the road. Another service was tending to a one-year-old child while five adults were seen lying in the two vehicles.

Medics assessed the two patients and found that a woman had already succumbed to multiple injuries while another woman and three men were in a critical condition. A fifth adult had escaped with only moderate injuries.

Medics treated the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions before two of the critically injured were airlifted by medical helicopters to nearby hospitals. The remaining patients were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals for further care.
