
SEDIBENG.- Banyana Banyana suffered another defeat in success when they lost 4-3 on penalty-shoot out to Zambia in the COSAFA Cup at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium over the weekend. This was a second successful defeat for Banyana Banyana after Malawi crashed them out of the COSAFA Cup Semi-finals.
This was a chance for Banyana Banyana to redeem themselves to finish third position in the tournament, however, it was not to be after missing some golden opportunities. The game was decided on penalty-shoot out. Despite the defeat, Banyana Banyana started the game playing their eye-catching passing game but struggled in the final third. However, Banyana Banyana defense was founded wanting whenever Zambia were on attack. The game went to half time after a 1-1 draw.
Speaking after the game, Banyana Banyana Coach, Desiree Elis was not impressed with his team’s performance on the day. She believed they could have done much better especially on the break creating some great chances but failing to convert them.
