Vanderbijl licensing department robbed

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The employees at the Rudi Klopper Licensing Department, on Frekkie Meyer Boulevard, Vanderbijlpark was robbed at gunpoint of an undisclosed sum of money on Monday afternoon.

This after suspects armed with a rifle, smoothly entered the building wearing balaclavas at around around 13:00.
Police Spokesprson, Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela said, two of the armed suspects with pistols ordered an employee to open a safe.

He was told that the keys are with the people transporting cash.

“The suspects ordered the employee to take the cash from the tellers. They further took two handbags and cellphones belonging to workers. The money was stuffed in the bags before workers were ordered to lie down on the floor, ” Maxambela said.

The armed suspects left the offices before three shots were fired outside the building and one bystander was injured. The injured person drove himself to hospital.
After the ordeal, three spent cartridges of 5.56mm R5 rifle were confiscated.
Maxambela said that the alleged suspects drove away in a white C-Class Mercedes Benz with unknown registration.
None of the workers from inside the building were injured.
No arrests have been made.
