Former students want to plough back to their community

"The aim is to go back to their former school and see how they can get involved as the founder students of the school."

SEBOKENG.- Katleho-Impumelelo Secondary School founder students launched their charity campaign to help those who are in need in the community. This group of former classmates and schoolmates came together over the weekend with an aim to contribute towards to the community.

This initiative started as a WhatsApp group of former class and schoolmates with the main aim of contributing in their community. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, the group Spokesperson, Isaac Monnakgotla said the aim is to go back to their former school and see how they can get involved as the founder students of the school.

“We came up with this initiative for a number of reasons because we feel that we must be recognised as the founder students of the school. It is not only that, we also want to be recognised as the school’s ambassadors and help with the school programmes and projects. Our aim is to plough back to the school because all of us never been in that new school building. When we were still there we used to rent to other schools until we finished our matric. If I still remember very well the school was established in 1991 from Fundolwazi Secondary School in Zone 12 and moved to Ntabankulu Primary School and former Teachers Center building in Zone 14. This is where all of us ended our matric and we never been in this school new building.”

Monnakgotla further said that their aim is also to empower former students who are unemployment despite their qualifications. He believes they can create jobs through this group and help those struggling to find jobs since they finished school.
