BOIPATONG.- Apart from being a soccer player, the young Rethabile Kola (15) wants to become a sports photographer.
This Jet Nteo Secondary School Grade 10 learner volunteered to take action photos for Sedibeng Ster Sport during the Emfuleni Local Super League (ELFA) matches at Boipatong Stadium over the weekend. She approached Sedibeng Ster Sports and asked if we can show her how to take photos. She said that she is interested in photography, and she intends to study it as part of her studies when she finishes her matric.
Kola took some eye-catching and outstanding action photos between Vaal Chelsea FC and TK Rangers like a seasoned photographer. To make it interesting, she also took photos of people on the stands watching games and one of the outstanding photos was a man who was drinking with a beer in the plastic.
In fact, it is very important to note, this is not the first Kola showed interest to volunteer to take action photos for Sedibeng Ster Sport. For example, every time when there are soccer matches at Boipatong Stadium, she asks Sedibeng Ster Sport to teach her how to take action photos.
“When I watch matches on television, I always admire those photographers with big cameras. I’m aware there are not many female photographers and I want to be one of the few female photographers. I don’t have a camera at the moment to practice but I will ask my mother to buy me one even though I know cameras are very expensive. My dream is to have my own camera to take photos at the games when my school is playing and at the weekends,” she told Sedibeng Ster Sport.
Kola pleaded with Sedibeng Ster to donate an old camera for her so that she can practice taking photos so that when she finishes her matric, she can go and study Photography.
Kola is a talented soccer player who is destined for a great future in South African football. She is one of the youngsters who are destined to play for Banyana Banyana in future taking into consideration her talent. She made headlines when she was crowned the African Champions in Freestyle in her age category.
