Four truck hijackers suspects on the run

SASOLBURG. – The  Sasolburg police are on amanhunt of four suspects who hijacked a truck on the R57 recently.

Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Josephine Hani said that a 51-year-old man was driving a truck from Gauteng passing towards Zamdela heading to Lesotho on 28 January 2022 when about 10 km away from R549 turn off he noticed that he was being followed by a white Jetta VW. As it overtook, one of the occupants on the front seat, wearing a reflector with SAPS emblem, gave him a signal to stop. The driver pulled off the road and he was confronted by one of the occupants who pointed him with a firearm and instructed him to move out. The suspects then tied both the drivers’ hands and covered his head with a jacket.

” One of the suspect made a u- turn with a truck towards Vanderbijlpark where the victim was dropped on an unknown road where the hijackers disconnected the tracker of the truck and made off with it accompanied by their vehicle.”     

They disconnected the tracker made off with the truck and their vehicle. Sargeant Hani adds that the victim later managed to untie himself, seek for assistance The police had released the truck registration of a white Nissan UD truck as BF 22 YV GP. The truck price is estimated to the value of R600 000 and the goods me handicap equipments amount about R500 000.

The District Commissioner of the police of Fezile Dabi municipality, Brigadier Mapulane Mbeloane warned motorists from stopping from a place their safety is compromised.
