Bophelong residents want local businesses to comply with regulations

Bophelong residents recently engaged Foreign nationals running business in the area. The meeting was held at the Bophelong Business Hub.

BOPHELONG. – Bophelong residents recently held a meeting about foreign nationals running business in the area. The meeting was held at the Bophelong business hub.

The meeting which was dubbed Operation Dudula aimed to address the non- compliance of rules that govern small business includingthe sale of counterfeit goods and expired productsto members of the community.

Oupa Radebe a member of the opetation said they are going to engage with the SAPS as part of their programme.

“Foreign national shop owners  must be prepared to comply 100% with the regulations that govern  local township businesses.

” Owners might find themselves losing their businesses should they continue to sell counterfeit goods and expired products.”

Radebe  told residents that they needed to restore order and the dignity of local businesses.

Radebe said a programme of action on how to approach shop owners need to be tabled.

“Members of the community must be appointed into committees as per their capacity.”

Radebe strongly emphasized  they were merely cleaning up their town and have nothing against the foreigners.

“Ours is to ensure that everyone complies with the law of the country. We are here to champion our local economy without fear or intimidation.
