Poor workmanship costs ELM
The results of poor workmanship is costing the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) and the community. For the past four weeks an underground pipe of clean water has been leaking. “Every month we receive a wrong billing for water we never consumed,’’ said Sehloo Mokale

The residents of Cliff Drysdale Street, Extension 1 Unitas Park, said they have on several occasions complained to both Metsi-a-Lekoa and Ward 45 Councillor, Elize Aucamp.
The Councillor assured residents that the matter will be reported to the highest authority
Reverend Andrew Kharoli said this is almost the fourth time since 2020 that this pipe has been leaking.
“Rand Water and ELM requested the community to save water by reporting any leak. This is just lip service, as we have since complained.
” The community experienced more water pressure during the evening.
“It’s our appeal for the municipality to do quality work. “We don’t want to pay for something we never consume. The storm-water pipes are blocked and others are not up to standard.”
To add salt to injury, there’s no proper infrastructure.
“The street lights in some areas have not been working for years,” said Mokale. “Funny enough only the street lights at Gary Player Street are on for 24 hours. “We still believe that it is not all gloom and doom, as we trust the new MMCs will bring some changes. “Maybe, we will be able to breathe better,” said Mokale
