SEDIBENG.- Mamelodi Sundowns their CAF Champions League journey came to an end after their 1-1 draw against Petro de Luanda (3-2 aggregate) at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Petro de Luanda came into this game with 2-1 advantage before Sundowns leveled the matters.
However, this was not the best Sundowns team with Themba Zwane missing a penalty and Andile Jali gaiving the visitors a penalty with the help of VAR. Sundowns created enough chances to win the game but failed to convert them into goals. This is the third time Sundowns are knocked out in this continental tournament in the same stage of the tournament. However, Sundowns have already won the DStv Premier Soccer League (PSL) after drawing with Capetown City during the week, with four games left. Earlier this season Sundowns lifted the MTN8 with a dramatic 3-2 penalty shoot-out victory over Cape Town City at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban where goalkeeper Denis Onyango made five spot saves.
They are facing Royal AM in the Semi-Finals of the Nedbank Cup tomorrow.
