EVATON.- A woman’s body was found dumped in an open space near Wilberforce College in Evaton on Sunday.
According to Gauteng Provincial Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, their men in blue were called to a scene in the morning following the gruesome discovery.
“On Sunday (2022-07-03) at about 10:50, police members were summoned to a murder scene in Evaton North. It is alleged that on arrival of the Police the EMS vehicle was already on the scene and had already declared the deceased to be dead,” he said.
Masondo added that the discovered body is unknown and police are seeking assistance in identifying the body.
“It was discovered that an unknown body of a young woman was found on the open field in Lakeside where a passerby discovered the body. Evaton SAPS is requesting anyone who has been missing their loved one, who is a young woman wearing light blue torn jean, with a pink long sleeve top to please come forward to Evaton police station or to go to the Sebokeng mortuary to identify and claim their loved one.” he said.
Sedibeng Cluster Commander, Major General Zodwa Molefe expressed emotions following the incident.
“We are saddened by this incident and the killing of women as GBV is a crime against women and children. I am pleading to our community, to please assist in capturing the suspect. We are asking anyone with information about this murder to please come forward as the perpetrator doesn’t deserve to live with the society,” she said.
