VANDERBIJLPARK. – Omolemo was granted an opportunity of a lifetime after being invited to spend a day at the Ipelegeng depot. This was thanks to his aunt Talitha Malebo shared the story about his love for buses on Facebook. Omolemo did not the opportunity pass him by to learn about bus operations.
Mother Refilwe Malebo explains that her son has from the tender age of three had a passion and love for buses.
“Omolemo loved toy buses dearly and was fascinated by their sounds. This was his daily experience whenever he visited his grandmother’s house in Sebokeng.”
Refilwe says when Omolemo would tell her that he would one day like to become a bus driver, she would discourage him.
“Honestly, I didn’t like it. I would tell him that there are more challenging careers than being a bus driver. “I eventually stopped saying this and now just support him.

“I realised I was making the same mistake our parents made in trying to channel our futures according to what they wanted, this killed a lot of dreams.
Refilwe says upon finding out about the visit to the depot, Omolemo was excited and nervous.
“He kept on saying “Mommy, I can’t believe this is happening” with a beautiful smile on his face.
“This has made my son so happy and emotional as he wishes his late grandmother would have been here to witness it.
“He is happy and grateful and can’t wait to share this adventure with his friends at school.
