Isabirye makes Curro proud

Lulama Isabirye recently participated in the Eskom Expo.

VANDERBIJLPARK.-  Isabirye is a learner at Curro Vanderbijlpark, while the expo is organised at regional, national and international levels. The winners at regional levels get an opportunity to participate nationally. This is an annual science fair organised by Eskom to give students a chance to come up with scientific innovations to solve problems in the community.

Curro Vanderbijlpark’s, Lara de Castro said that the learners that participate on national levels are accorded the chance to participate internationally.

“Eskom, through their coordinator, presents a series of support tutorials to assist young scientists with developing their own scientific projects. This year’s expo took place at Curro Savanna City on the 30th July. Lulama’s innovation was in the energy sector. She came up with a model /prototype of a solar charged tablet/phone that could be used by students/learners in rural areas (where there is no electricity) to participate in e-learning and access e-books. Lulama achieved silver and is awaiting communication from the coordinator to inform her whether she will participate in the National Expo. Congratulations Lulama, we are proud of you,” De Castro said.
