Vanderbijlpark house robbers convicted

Vanderbijlpark SAPS' Detective Sergeant Mokone Mavundla recently secured a conviction of the suspects who were arrested for a house robbery in Vanderbijlpark.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- It was alleged that the suspects were known to the complainant, and ont night on the 3rd August 2019 at around 00:15 suspects got into the house where the victim was sleeping to commit a house robbery. It is said that the victim heard the noise and thought that it was his brother, only for him to be attacked by the suspects. The victim managed to run to the kitchen and switched on the light and realised that he is being attacked, by a person known to him.

Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Gertrude Mkhale said that the suspects were Thabo Vincent Moleko (29) and Samuel Morapedi Montle (32).

“Both suspects were sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, 3 years wholly suspended for five years on condition that the accused will not be convicted of robbery with aggravating circumstances, committed during the period of suspension. This sends a message to the people that it does not matter how long the investigation takes but in the end good results are yielded by the court of law, hardworking, thorough investigation and not hurrying arrests without enough evidence or arresting with hearsay but with the assurance of the victim/ witnesses pointing out the suspects.”

She added that Vanderbijlpark Station Commander, Brigadier Nikiwe Sefatsa (previously known as Hoaeane) applauded Detective Sergeant  Mavundla for his dedication, hard work and ensuring that the suspects were brought to book.
